When You Have Nothing To Be Thankful For………..
Thanksgiving is often thought of as joyous time. The stereotypical picture of Thanksgiving is something like a big table surrounded by a large, healthy family, filled with delicious food. Doesn’t that sound wonderful? Of course, and it certainly is. That is often the images depicted on advertisements that bombard our daily lives. However, for most people, Thanksgiving looks nothing like that.
For many, Thanksgiving is a depressing time. There are people who don’t have families. There are people who live in broken homes. There are people who are poverty stricken. There are people without homes. The list can go on and on. Thanksgiving can be a harsh reminder of how crappy one’s situation is. It’s rubbing salt in the wound.
Please don’t feel guilty if Thanksgiving is a wonderful time for you. That is a blessing and it deserves celebration. However, if it is not, we want you to know that is ok. We also want you to know that there is a way to begin experiencing joy and gratitude, no matter the situation.
If you have glanced through our “About” and “Meet The People” pages, you will have noticed that Bike and Brain is founded on a Christian faith in Jesus. This faith is fueled by a love for EVERYONE. Every person on this planet was created in the image of God. We believe that he has not made any mistakes. You are exactly how he wanted you to be. This can be a hard concept to grasp, especially if your life seems to be in shambles. The good news is, God wants your life to be fulfilling and we believe this is possible. Below are a few hopeful ways to begin bettering your situation and finding gratitude so that you will have something to be Thankful for!
- You Woke Up For A Reason
If you are reading this, that means you woke up today. You have been granted another 24 hours of life. This is a blessing. God has not put you on his earth for nothing. He doesn’t create a single thing without purpose. Sometimes, this purpose is extremely difficult to decipher, but he promises there is one. There are some really difficult situations out there. Some people are really sick and confined to a bed, others are chronically homeless with no money, and some are in abusive situations they can’t escape. These can seem hopeless, but they aren’t. If that describes your situation, you certainly have a purpose here on earth. God has promised this. Have you ever asked him what that purpose is?
2. We Love You
If you are reading this, know that we love you at Bike and Brain. We don’t think that love should be reserved for the “good people” of this world. Love is for everyone. No matter what you have done or where you are in life, we love you. This is definitely a difficult concept to grasp, but we hope you will take our word for it.
3. Develop A Community of Love
God loves each and every one of us. He created us with his perfect love. He desires for this to be the foundation of our existence. We are to love one another and care for one another, no matter what. This love is prevalent in Christian churches and communities. The church is simply a collection of God’s people. This could be a great place to begin developing a sense of community. There are so many people who feel alone, but you don’t have to. If developing a loving community is something you desire, please contact us here and we will be glad to point you in the right direction.
We understand that life can be difficult and many situations are straight-up sucky. Thankfully, we have a belief in a loving God that provides hope in every situation. So even if you feel hopeless about your situation, we don’t. In fact, we know God wants more for you.
If you have any questions or comments about this post we would love to hear from you. We would also be happy to talk to God for you. If you have any requests for him we would be happy to pass them along to the guy upstairs. Contact us here!
