Holiday Ride (12-19-15)
Saturday was certainly a bit chilly, but that did not stop us from riding. We got together at the Vanderbilt Gates and rode a big loop across to the West Side Highway, down to 59th Street, and back over to the east side where we ended at Jax Cafe on the UES.
We had two people riding who had not been on a bicycle in several years. Although they were a bit shaky at first, they became pros by the end of the ride. One of them explained “It was like muscle memory. Once I got pedaling I was good to go”. This further proves that cycling is a universal activity that can bond even the most diverse people.
The ride was fantastic and the cold made the treats at the end that much better. Cycling is not just for warm weather. If geared up correctly you can ride in almost any condition and have the same fun you would in warm weather.
We hope you will join us in January for our “New Year New You” ride. The details will be posted on our FB page, as always.
